Carbon Balancing
In April 2008, we set up our carbon balancing scheme. This informal scheme gives visitors to Tomich the option to balance the carbon emitted on their return trip to and from Tomich. In conjunction with the RSPB, you can purchase a native conifer or broadleaf which will be planted on the Corrimony RSPB Reserve. This reserve borders the Guisachan Estate and this forest restoration scheme will benefit the black grouse regeneration programme.
Each sapling costs £2 to buy and this will offset approx. 730 kg of carbon over 100 years. The average 1000 mile journey in a diesel car at 40mpg produces 0.3 tonnes of carbon and in a petrol car produces 0.26 tonnes.
