Green Tourism

In 2008 we joined the Green Tourism Business Scheme. We have since achieved a SILVER award as members of this scheme. We hope this reflects our commitment to the environment and our long term vision for the future of green tourism at Tomich holidays.

Our Policy

At Tomich Holidays we aim to manage the impact our business has on the environment in as sustainable way as possible and practical.  As members of the Green Business Tourism Scheme, we are committed to:

Complying with environmental laws and fulfilling our legal Duty of Care requirements for waste disposal.

Sound environmental practice in business initiatives which minimizes the harmful effects and maximize the beneficial influences on the environment.

Some of the measures we are implementing include:

  • Provision of visitor packs on wildlife, flora and fauna, local walks, activities, public transport and events information.

Promoting and supporting local environmental initiatives, including wildlife recorders, RSPB events, Highland Ranger events.

  • Enhancing the visitor experience by ensuring that the natural environment and heritage is protected and maintained.

Provision of advice, information pack and notice board on green issues for all visitors

  • Monitoring our energy, waste and water consumption to make savings through use of energy efficient appliances and lighting, provision of shower facilities, use of water saving devices in cisterns,

Minimising waste by recycling glass, paper, aluminium, cardboard and garden waste.

  • Setting up an in house carbon off-setting scheme and encouraging awareness of this issue.

Promoting the GTBS scheme through logos on brochures, websites and liaising with other scheme members.

  • Ensuring all staff are aware of our environmental policy and trained to adhere to it.

Secure lockable, dry storage for bikes

  • Investigating setting up a hydro electric scheme

Using local suppliers, labourers and business wherever possible and using environmentally friendly products wherever practical.

  • Provision of local menus from nearby pubs, restaurants and hotels.
